SEX INDUSTRY REGULATION
Underage Nude Stippers in Honolulu? Yes, Until Recently
[June 29, 1999 City Council Hearing ] HFF Support for Bill 54, Relating to Nightclubs &
Support for Bill 55, Relating to Public Nuisances. We support Bills 54 & 55 because the so-called "adult
business" industry, more aptly titled the "sexually-oriented
business (SOB)" industry is really about profiteering through
the exploitation of our young people, the destruction of our neighborhoods,
and the deterioration of legitimate business interests. As such,
this Council should regulate SOBs as stringently as possible.
Bills 54 & 55 are positive steps in that direction. (CLICK HERE FOR HFF TESTIMONY AND FURTHER INFORMATION)
Keeping Sex Business Away From Children & Families:
December 1, 1999 City Council Hearing
HFF S upport for Bill 89 & Support for Expanding Bill 89 to
Apply to
ALL Sex Businesses - Including the Liquor Serving Sex Businesses. We support Bill 89 because it will enhance the quality of life
in our community by better protecting children, families, neighborhoods
and communities from the negative secondary effects of sex oriented
businesses (SOBs). (CLICK HERE FOR HFF TESTIMONY)
Regulating Peep Show Sex Booths ( Peep Show Law Must Stand)
Let's be clear about this. The Advertiser's editorial on the
peep show law simply missed the legal mark. Honolulu's new "open
booth" requirement for peep shows is about protecting families,
neighborhoods, and communities from the well-documented negative
secondary effects of sex-oriented businesses. We commend the mayor
and the city council for their progressive approach to a serious
community problem. (CLICK HERE FOR HFF TESTIMONY)

The Problems of So-Called "Adult Businesses"
Red Light Districts . . . Prostitution . . . Peep Show Booths .
. .
Lap Dancing . . . Sex Shops . . . Strip Clubs
Formerly, we referred to them as "adult businesses."
More properly titled "Sexually Oriented Businesses" or
SOBs, we've become all too familiar with them as simply part of
the landscape - especially in Waikiki. (CLICK HERE FOR HFF TESTIMONY)
