Letter to the U.S. Senate Opposing Funding for Abortion and Abortion Businesses

Hawaii Family Forum signed a letter, along with many national pro-life groups, highlighting the importance of pro-life protections in the Republican “replacement” to Obamacare. The letter was sent to the Senate on June 8, 2017 and can be viewed here. It is particularly timely as Senate Republicans are addressing provisions in the House bill that the Senate Parliamentarian may not allow unless there are 60 votes in support. Articles in Politico and The Hill outline the issue with respect to abortion.

Most notably, the article in The Hill indicates the Parliamentarian may rule against Hyde protections. Regardless of parliamentary hurdles, pro-life groups cannot accept a health care bill that funds abortion, and SBA List is insisting Senate Republicans must find a solution that does not involve abortion funding.
